What is multiplexer: A multiplexer allows one of several analogs or digital input signals to be selected and transmits that signal into a single medium. It multiplexes data from multiple sources onto a shared transmission medium.

What Is Multiplexer? 

Multiplexers can be implemented in software on general-purpose computers as well as on special-purpose hardware.

How its Works?

The multiplexer acts as an intermediary, accepting data from each of the multiple sources, multiplexing it into one signal for transmission on each separate wire or channel of the interconnection media, and outputting it at the other end.
