Biden admin gives federal agencies 30 days to ban TikTok

The Biden administration has given federal agencies 30 days to make sure TikTok is not installed on any equipment used for government business.

According to new instructions released on Monday by Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, it is important to make sure that vendors follow the same regulations.

Young's memo gives agencies 30 days to make sure that no government devices are using the Chinese-owned app.

Within 90 days, contractors must conform to the same criteria.

"The Biden-Harris Administration has invested heavily in defending our nation's digital infrastructure and curbing foreign adversaries' access to Americans' data,"

Because of security concerns, the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and State all already have TikTok restrictions in place.

A measure prohibiting TikTok on federal government gadgets was tucked away by Lawmakers.

According to the statute, the Biden administration had 60 days to inform agencies about the restriction.

President Joseph Biden was recently questioned on the possibility of a more extensive TikTok ban.

He replied "I know I don't have it on my phone".
