luca Doncic and Kyrie Irving make Mavericks history with 40-point night

The opening minutes of the second half,Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving finally clicked.

It was more like a prolonged whoosh, a joint unleashing of themselves upon the Philadelphia 76ers.

Their wild 133-126 victory in American Airlines Center, the Mavericks withstood a 24-3 Sixers rally behind Doncic’s 42 points and Irving’s 40.

They became the first tandem in the franchise’s 43-year history to score 40 or more points in the same game.

Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey of South Garland combined for 91 points.

Dallas needed the Doncic-Irving historic first, along with their combined 18 assists and a team franchise-record 25 3-pointers to pull out the win.

“For me it’s way easier,” Doncic said of playing with Irving.

He added "It’s unbelievable the things he does on the court. I think if I had to pay to watch somebody it would be him,

for sure, because those movements and shots are incredible.”

The Mavericks (33-31) had lost five of their last six games and were 1-4 in the games Irving and Doncic played together.
